Excursion to Kakheti

 

Kakheti is the main wine-making region of Georgia. However, it is interesting not only for this: tourists can also admire the beautiful local nature, visit ancient temples and monasteries.

 

Trip program

 

Our excursion to Kakheti begins in the morning. On the way, you can take a closer look at national cuisine: the first stop on our way will be the place where fresh bread is prepared and real Georgian sheep cheese is served. In about 1.5 hours you will reach the city of love Sighnagi. There are well-preserved ancient fortress walls with towers, the center of Sighnaghi has been beautifully restored. At your request, you can include a visit to the museum of the famous Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani. Then you will see Bodbe - a functioning convent located 2 km from Sighnaghi.

 

After that, you will go down to the Alazani Valley and visit the beautiful winery where you will have a tasting. Then you will go to the monastic complex of Nekresi and the fortress of Gremi, which is located where once was the ancient capital of Kakheti. You will also visit the modern center of the region, Telavi, and Tsinandali estate, built at the beginning of the 19th century. The road between the sights of the Alazani Valley takes 10-30 minutes. At the end of the day you will return to Tbilisi.
